OnePlus Ace 7 Full Review: Dual Air Cooling, Massive 9000mAh Battery, 165Hz Global Refresh & Camera Test

I went into this OnePlus Ace 7 review with pretty low expectations at first. Big battery phones usually mean bulky frames, throttling under gaming loads, or corners cut on the display and camera. But this time, OnePlus packed in a 9000mAh cell, dual-path air cooling, a full 165Hz refresh rate across the entire system, and still tried to make the camera usable for daily shots. After a full week of heavy use, marathon gaming sessions, casual photography and commuting, I’ve got a lot to unpack.

The headline feature is obviously that giant 9000mAh battery. This is where the Ace 7 completely changes the daily routine. Most flagship and mid-range phones need a top-up by dinner if you game or stream a lot. With this unit, I regularly hit bedtime with 35 to 40 percent charge left, even after hours of YouTube, social scrolling, GPS navigation and an hour of Genshin Impact. On lighter days with just messaging and web browsing, it can easily stretch across two full days. I never found myself hunting for a charger, and that peace of mind is hard to overstate. It’s not the fastest wired charge I’ve tested, but for anyone tired of battery anxiety, this alone is a major win.

Next up is the 165Hz global refresh panel. A lot of competitors advertise high refresh screens but lock it to games only, dropping down to 120Hz or even 60Hz in apps and menus. The Ace 7 runs 165Hz everywhere: settings, browsers, photo galleries, every third-party app you install. Scrolling feels incredibly fluid, with none of the stutter I notice on cheaper phones. The touch sampling keeps up too, which pairs nicely with its dual air cooling system.

That dual air cooling setup is what stops the big battery and high refresh from turning into a thermal mess. I cranked graphics settings up in a handful of demanding titles and kept playing for over an hour. While many phones start throttling hard and dropping frames after 20 minutes, the Ace 7 held its frame rate steady. The back gets warm, sure, but never uncomfortably hot. If you’re someone who plays mobile games on the way home or during long breaks, this cooling solution makes a tangible difference. It’s not silent under heavy load; you can hear the airflow kick in, but that trade-off is worth it for sustained performance.

Now for the camera, the part I was most curious about. Let’s be honest: battery and gaming phones rarely excel here. In bright daylight, the main sensor delivers sharp, natural photos with good dynamic range. Colors lean slightly saturated, classic OnePlus tuning that most casual users will like. Low light is where it struggles. Night shots take longer to process, fine details soften up, and noise creeps in more than premium flagships. It works fine for snapshots, social media posts and family photos, but don’t buy this phone expecting pro-level photography. It’s capable, just not its strongest suit.

There are compromises, and I don’t want to gloss over them. At 9000mAh, the phone is noticeably heavier and thicker. It’s not a slim, pocket-friendly device. If you prefer light, compact handsets, this one will feel like a brick after hours of one-handed use. Plastic frame choices also keep costs down, so it doesn’t have the premium solid feel of metal flagships.

Who is this for, then? The OnePlus Ace 7 targets gamers, frequent travelers, delivery riders, and anyone who hates charging their phone constantly. If your priorities are all-day (and multi-day) battery, smooth system motion, and reliable sustained gaming performance, this is one of the best picks in its segment. If camera quality and ultra-slim design sit at the top of your list, you’ll probably be happier shopping elsewhere.

At the end of the week, I was genuinely surprised. OnePlus didn’t just shove a huge battery into a phone and call it done. They paired it with solid cooling and a top-tier global refresh display. The camera is serviceable, the build has clear tradeoffs, but for its intended audience, the Ace 7 delivers exactly what it promises.
